This new middle school used CMU veneer and structural block in concert to achieve an ideal harmony of aesthetics and cost. 11,000 structural block was used as the backbone of the long hallway dividing four classroom pods on the building, and the exterior of the building uses 60,000 veneer block to complete its modern, stylish appearance. Working closely with Howard S. Wright over two bid phases, J&S has helped Hillsboro School District prepare for the population boom in Portland’s western suburbs.
